This privacy statement applies to any personal information collected by Community Housing Regulatory Authority (CHRA). You can read our operational privacy statement here.
Use of the CHRA website
All website users should be aware they are able to use the CHRA website without disclosing any personal data. We do not collect any personal information directly through our website.
Public register
Under the Public and Community Housing Management Act 1992 and the Public and Community Housing Management (Community Housing Provider) Regulations 2014 CHRA is required to maintain a register of community housing providers (CHPs) which is publicly available on our website. The register must contain the names and roles of each registered CHPs board and senior management team.
The register will comply with the public register privacy principles in the Privacy Act relating to search references, use of information from public registers, and electronic transmission of such information.
Website Security
The CHRA website is managed by Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga – Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (the Ministry) web team, which has put security measures in place to prevent the loss, misuse and alteration of information under our control. In order to maintain the cyber security of the Ministry’s systems and information, these systems are subject to ongoing monitoring (including activity logging), analysis and auditing.
The Ministry may use information about your use of our website and other IT systems to prevent unauthorised access or attacks on these systems or to resolve such events. The Ministry may use this information even if you are not involved in such activity. The Ministry may utilise services from one or more 3rd party suppliers to monitor or maintain the cybersecurity of its systems and information. These 3rd party suppliers will have access to monitoring and logging information as well as information processed on all Ministry websites and other IT systems.
Rights of access and correction
You have the right to:
· find out from us whether we hold personal information about you
· access that information; and, if applicable
· request corrections to that information
If we have a good reason for refusing a request for correction, you are entitled to request that a statement be attached to the information of the correction that was sought but not made.

Information collected through the Business Connects platform
All registered CHPs are required to provide information to CHRA annually to demonstrate their ongoing compliance with the performance standards. This information is submitted through the Annual Regulatory Report form, which is hosted by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment on the Business Connect platform.
The Business Connect platform is a transactional system only and it does not act as a system-of-record for the regulatory information you have provided. The retention of all data collected through the form remains the responsibility of CHRA.
All platform users are required to provide some information to Business Connects in order to access and submit their ARR. This will likely include your name, a RealMe login and your New Zealand Business Number which is used to create and access your Business Connect account.
