Activities:
The Trust provides affordable housing for elderly residents of Russell/Kororāreka, both Māori and Pākehā, in a safe, socially cohesive environment. We currently operate 6 pensioner houses and plan to add considerably more accommodation to meet the needs of Russell’s elderly.
We are seeking to create a “village within a village” (He kainga kei roto i tētahi kainga) to benefit as many qualifying elderly Russell-Kororāreka Peninsula area residents as possible, to allow them to remain close to friends and family in their later years instead of being forced to live outside the area.
The development of the 7-acre site by the Trust will be the only accommodation that creates a true haven for our kaumātua. The activities of the Trust are firmly focused on achieving this objective.
